Museum Manager - Operations & Management
Location: Vadnagar
POSITION SUMMARY
The Museum Manager serves as the chief operational and administrative team leader of the museum, responsible for the seamless functioning of all indoor and outdoor museum facilities. This role oversees a diverse workforce across operations, technical systems, visitor experience, marketing, digital engagement, facility upkeep, and revenue generating activities. The incumbent ensures that the museum delivers a world-class cultural, educational, and visitor-centric experience while maintaining fiscal discipline and compliance with governing authority guidelines.
This leadership position demands strategic foresight, exceptional stakeholder management, and deep expertise in managing museum ecosystems or cultural centers at scale.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Organisational Leadership & Staff Management
Provide leadership to all museum staff, including:
o AV Engineer, Duty Engineers (Electrical), Manager - IT Services
o Ushers
o Graphic Designer, Photographer/Videographer, Content Writer
o Ticketing & Billing Staff
o Housekeeping Team
o Cloak Room Operators
Set annual and quarterly performance goals; conduct periodic evaluations.
Oversee recruitment, training, scheduling, performance reviews, and continuous skill development across departments.
2. Museum Operations & Compliance
Oversee daily operations as per authority guidelines, ensuring uninterrupted functioning of exhibits, galleries, projection rooms, AV installations, digital interactives, ticketing systems, and visitor services.
Implement SOPs across maintenance, safety, housekeeping, technical operations, and visitor management.
Ensure conservation-sensitive cleaning practices around artefacts and displays.
Conduct minimum twice-month site audits to evaluate operational readiness and
quality.
3. Event, Exhibition & Program Management
Collaborate with curators, researchers, content teams, designers, and external partners to deliver high-quality interpretive experiences.
4. Technology, AV & IT Oversight
Oversee operation and maintenance of all AV, lighting, projection, sound mapping, digital systems, and servers managed by technical staff.
Ensure compliance, system upgrades, safety protocols, and performance monitoring.
5. Governance, Reporting & External Relations
Prepare periodic operational reports, financial summaries, visitor analytics, and strategic recommendations.
Represent the museum in authority/board meetings and external institutional forums.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management / Facility Management (mandatory).
Master's degree in management / museum studies / Related Discipline
Minimum 8-10 years of leadership experience in managing museums, cultural centers, or similar large-scale public institutions.
Proven expertise in operations management, multi-team leadership, event execution, marketing oversight, and public-facing cultural environments.

Pay: ?75,000.00 - ?80,000.00 per month
