You will be responsible for researching and reporting stories, managing media relations, handling crisis communications, and creating engaging multimedia content (text, video, photo, and social media). You will also play a critical role in protecting and promoting the identity and values of the organization or public figure.
Research, pitch, and develop original stories and multimedia content for publication across websites, newsletters, and social platforms.
Produce and edit high-quality videos, interviews, blog posts, press materials, and visual content.
Cover key events, speeches, announcements, and community activities in real time.
Write articles, op-eds, talking points, and speeches that align with the brand voice and message.
Maintain editorial calendars and manage consistent output across platforms.
Public Relations & Media Strategy
Develop and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets.
Write and distribute press releases, media kits, and background briefs.
Monitor news coverage, identify risks, and manage crisis communication responses as needed.
Act as spokesperson or prepare others for interviews, public appearances, and media Q&As.
Coordinate press conferences, interviews, and media events.
Brand & Messaging
Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communications.
Advise leadership on tone, message positioning, and media opportunities.
Monitor public sentiment and adjust communication strategy accordingly.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
3-5 years of experience in journalism, media, or PR--preferably in a political, nonprofit, or high-profile environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a sharp news sense and eye for detail.
Proficiency in multimedia tools (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Canva, Final Cut, Photoshop) and content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
Strong understanding of social media, SEO, and analytics.
Experience in crisis communications and media relations is highly desirable.
Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to exercise discretion, diplomacy, and sound judgment.
Preferred Attributes:
Bilingual or multicultural experience is a plus.
Familiarity with political, nonprofit, or government communications is beneficial.
