To facilitate the teaching and learning of English language and literature for middle school students in alignment with the Cambridge Lower Secondary curriculum. The facilitator will foster language proficiency, critical thinking, and a love for reading and writing in a student-centered learning environment.
Key Responsibilities: Academic Delivery
Plan and deliver engaging English lessons based on the CIE Lower Secondary curriculum.
Use a variety of instructional strategies to cater to different learning styles and ability levels.
Design assessments (formative and summative) aligned with curriculum objectives and provide timely feedback.
Guide students in reading comprehension, writing, grammar, speaking, and listening skills.
Prepare students for Cambridge Checkpoint exams and other relevant assessments.
Curriculum & Planning
Develop unit plans, lesson plans, and resources in line with curriculum standards.
Integrate 21st-century skills, including critical thinking, collaboration, and digital literacy into lesson delivery.
Participate in curriculum mapping and documentation as required by the academic leadership team.
Student Engagement & Support
Create a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages inquiry and open discussion.
Monitor student progress and provide additional support or enrichment as needed.
Encourage reading for pleasure through book clubs, library sessions, and storytelling.
Assessment & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and performance.
Prepare student progress reports and participate in parent-teacher meetings.
Use data from assessments to inform teaching practices and improve learning outcomes.
Professional Responsibilities
Collaborate with colleagues to plan interdisciplinary projects and school events.
Participate in professional development sessions and Cambridge training workshops.
Uphold school policies, code of conduct, and safeguarding standards.
Contribute to co-curricular activities, field trips, and school-wide programs.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's/Master's degree in English Literature, English Language, or Education.
B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification preferred.
Minimum 2-4 years of teaching experience in middle school, preferably in a CIE/Cambridge setup.
Familiarity with Cambridge Lower Secondary English curriculum and Checkpoint exams is an advantage.
