The MRD In-Charge is responsible for overseeing all operations related to the management, storage, and confidentiality of patient medical records. The role ensures compliance with hospital policies, legal regulations, and accreditation standards regarding medical documentation and record maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
Medical Record Management
Supervise collection, maintenance, and retrieval of patient records (inpatient, outpatient, and emergency).
Ensure proper indexing, filing, and safe storage of medical records.
Maintain confidentiality and security of all patient information.
Documentation & Compliance
Ensure all medical records are complete, accurate, and up to date.
Verify that discharge summaries, consent forms, and investigation reports are properly documented and signed.
Maintain records as per NABH / JCI / legal requirements.
Facilitate medico-legal record handling and coordinate with concerned authorities when required.
Data Management & Reporting
Prepare monthly and annual statistical reports on admissions, discharges, and mortality.
Support management in audit and quality control of medical records.
Coordination & Supervision
Supervise MRD staff and allocate responsibilities effectively.
Coordinate with doctors, nursing, billing, and administrative departments for record-related queries.
Technology & Record Digitization
Manage Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, ensuring data accuracy and timely updates.
Work with IT and quality departments for data backup and system improvements.
