Manager, Procurement contract Analyst
The Indirect Commercial Contract Analyst is responsible for reviewing indirect spend contracts--including software, services, licensing, and procurement agreements--to determine appropriate accounting treatment and assess impacts on financial reporting. Ensures compliance with U.S. GAAP, Finance Manual, and corporate technical accounting requirements. Acts as a key liaison with the Corporate Technical Accounting team when contract terms trigger formal consultation. Collaborates with multiple stakeholders. The role is part of the Controllership team.
Responsibilities
Review indirect contracts, statements of work, amendments, and related documentation to interpret financial obligations, performance terms, and potential accounting impacts.
Analyze contracts to determine appropriate accounting treatment, including expense recognition, capitalization, lease classification, and any impacts under relevant standards.
Identify contract terms that require escalation and initiate formal accounting consultations with the Corporate Technical Accounting team; prepare summary memos, data, and support analysis for their review.
Document conclusions from consultations and ensure consistent application of accounting policies across similar arrangements.
Maintain high-quality documentation for internal control, audit support, and Finance Manual compliance.
Collaborate with MGS Commercial, Legal, Controllership, and Corporate Technical Accounting team to ensure contract structures support desired financial outcomes.
Assist in updating and implementing accounting policies related to indirect
spend
, software capitalization, and contract evaluation processes.
Identify elements that may trigger variable consideration, contingent liabilities, or modifications that require re-assessment.
Qualifications we seek in you!
Minimum qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Master's degree in Accounting
, Finance, or Business Administration
Familiarity with U.S. GAAP and key technical areas
Preferred qualifications
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
Experience with ASC or procurement-related accounting
Ability to interpret legal contract language
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and communication skills
Background in accounting, auditing, or technical accounting
Good policy, process, and control-orientation and experience with the ability to drive standards
Good written and verbal communication skills
