To lead and manage the press shop moulding operations, ensuring production targets, quality standards, machine utilization, manpower management, safety, and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production & Operations:
Plan, schedule, and oversee daily press shop moulding operations.
Ensure achievement of production targets in terms of quantity, quality, and timelines.
Monitor machine performance and ensure optimum utilization of moulding presses.
2. Quality Management:
Ensure adherence to quality standards (ISO/TS/IATF as applicable).
Coordinate with Quality team to reduce rejections, defects, and customer complaints.
Implement corrective and preventive actions for quality issues.
3. Process Improvement:
Optimize moulding processes to improve productivity and reduce downtime.
Introduce new techniques, tooling, and methods for cost reduction and efficiency.
Support NPD (New Product Development) activities through tool/mould trials.
4. Manpower & Team Management:
Allocate and supervise operators, technicians, and shift in-charges.
Conduct training programs on press shop operations, safety, and quality.
Maintain discipline, motivation, and skill development of the workforce.
5. Maintenance Coordination:
Ensure preventive and breakdown maintenance of presses and moulding equipment.
Liaise with the maintenance team to minimize downtime.
6. Safety & Compliance:
Ensure safe working practices across the press shop.
Maintain compliance with statutory and environmental regulations.
Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
7. Reporting & Documentation:
Maintain production reports, downtime analysis, OEE, rejection trends, etc.
Report KPI achievements to senior management.
Ensure proper documentation for audits and customer requirements.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of moulding & press shop operations.
Experience in tool & die handling, mould trials, and troubleshooting.
Leadership, decision-making, and team-handling skills.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, and TPM.
Good communication and coordination skills.
Qualification & Experience:
Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering. 5+ years of experience in press shop / moulding operations with at least 1-3 years in a managerial role. Exposure to automotive / engineering / plastic or metal moulding industry preferred.
