Job Description

The Motor Design Manager will lead the engineering team responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing electric motors specifically for air cooler applications. This role combines technical expertise in motor design with leadership and project management, ensuring motors meet performance, reliability, efficiency, and cost standards required by the industry.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee all design activities for air cooler motors, including concept development, 3D modeling, simulation, prototyping, and testing. Lead a team of design engineers, allocating resources, conducting regular reviews, and mentoring junior team members. Develop technical specifications, tolerances, and design documentation for new and existing motor projects. Collaborate with product management, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless design-to-production transition. Conduct FEA (Finite Element Analysis), thermal, and electromagnetic simulations to optimize motor performance and efficiency. Benchmark designs against industry standards and competitor products, driving continuous improvement and innovation. Evaluate new materials and technologies (e.g., winding techniques, magnetics) and coordinate pilot projects for potential adoption. Address issues in current designs by root cause analysis, proposing and implementing engineering solutions. Ensure all motor designs comply with electrical safety, energy efficiency, and environmental regulations (ISI, CE, RoHS, etc.). Prepare technical reports and present design reviews to management and external stakeholders. Participate in vendor selection and validation for key motor components. Stay updated on industry trends, standards, and emerging technologies relevant to air cooler motor applications.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. 8-12 years of motor design experience, with at least 3 years in a lead/managerial role; experience in air cooler or small appliance motors preferred. Proficiency in motor design software (e.g., ANSYS Maxwell, Motor-CAD, COMSOL) and CAD platforms (SolidWorks, AutoCAD). Strong understanding of electromagnetic design, thermal management, material selection, and manufacturing processes for motors. Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and validation of electric motors. Proven leadership, team management, and project management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Desirable Qualities

Experience in managing cross-functional teams and multiple projects. Exposure to large-scale mass manufacturing environments. Innovative mindset with a focus on energy efficiency, cost optimization, and reliability. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
