Role Summary:
The Modular Designer will be responsible for
end-to-end modular design ownership
--from client interaction and concept development to
technical detailing, costing coordination, and execution support
. The role requires strong technical knowledge of
factory-made modular systems
, precision planning, and the ability to balance
aesthetics, functionality, cost, and execution feasibility
.
This is a
hardcore modular design role
, not a general interior designer position.
Key Responsibilities
1. Client Interaction & Design Consultation
Understand client requirements, lifestyle needs, and budget constraints
Present
modular design concepts, layouts, and material options
Advise clients on
functional planning, storage optimization, and ergonomics
Manage client expectations and design approvals professionally
2. Modular Design & Space Planning
Create detailed
modular kitchen, wardrobe, and storage layouts
Ensure designs comply with
factory manufacturing standards
Optimize layouts for
maximum efficiency, functionality, and aesthetics
Ensure designs are execution-ready with minimal site modifications
3. Technical Drawings & Documentation
Prepare accurate
AutoCAD drawings
including plans, elevations, sections, and details
Finalize
shop drawings and installation drawings
for factory and site teams
Ensure correct module sizing, tolerances, clearances, and hardware positioning
Maintain strict version control and drawing accuracy
4. Material, Hardware & Finish Selection
Select appropriate
panels, laminates, finishes, shutters, hardware, and accessories
Ensure materials meet
quality, durability, and cost standards
Coordinate with procurement and factory teams for feasibility and availability
Stay updated with
latest modular trends, accessories, and innovations
5. Costing & BOQ Coordination
Prepare and validate
BOQs and modular costing
Ensure designs align with approved budgets and margin requirements
Support sales teams during pricing discussions and value engineering
Propose design alternatives to optimize cost without compromising quality
6. Factory & Execution Coordination
Coordinate closely with
factory/production teams
to ensure design feasibility
Address factory queries and clarify technical details
Support site teams during installation and resolve design-related issues
Minimize design errors, rework, and factory remakes
7. Quality Control & Design Accountability
Ensure final design intent is maintained during execution
Conduct internal design reviews before factory release
Support snag closure and final handover as required
Take ownership of design accuracy and execution success
8. Team Mentoring & Process Compliance (If Lead Role)
Guide and mentor junior modular designers
Ensure adherence to design SOPs and standards
Contribute to process improvements and design efficiency
Ability to design with precision and execution-first mindset

Qualifications
Degree / Diploma in
Interior Design / Architecture / Furniture Design
Modular-specific training is a strong advantage
Ideal Candidate Profile
6+ years of
pure modular design experience
Has worked with
factory-made modular kitchens & wardrobes
Can independently handle clients and projects end-to-end
Strong balance of design aesthetics and technical execution
Detail-oriented, accountable, and process-driven
