Mobile Engineer III, Android

Are you passionate about front-end engineering and looking to be part of a team that delights millions of travellers from all over the world through building engaging experiences?

We're looking for Mobile Engineers to join our team on our exciting journey to build the capabilities and foundations that'll power the next generation of Expedia's traveller experiences! You'll be working at the forefront of Expedia Group's mission to provide a travel platform for all. Pushing the limits of front-end technology and collaborating with engineering and design teams across the company.

We use a modern tech stack of Node.js, React, JavaScript/TypeScript and GraphQL, and you'll have a solid understanding of web fundamentals such as HTML, CSS, accessibility, and performance. We collaborate with our design teams using Figma, leveraging our own Design System to build scalable experiences.

What you'll do:

Play a critical role in ensuring modular and scalable design and architecture of Android Apps Keeping up to date with the best industry practices and lead adopting new technologies

Mentor junior engineers to develop with innovative design and quality

Development of Android Apps - providing value to travellers and increase usage and feature adoption

Set high standards for monitoring and operational excellence getting to know challenges faced by customers and improving the experience

Optimize apps for performance and usability

Ensure that visual design is meticulously up to spec and unique Android capabilities are used for a truly native experience

Collaborate with back-end developers, designers, product owners, data analysts to constantly improve customer experience within Android platform

Who you are:

Experience as a mobile applications developer

Experience developing large scale Android applications

Proficiency in Kotlin and Java with good software design skills

Knowledge of popular Android frameworks - Espresso, RxJava, Retrofit, Dagger/Hilt, Firebase, Kotlin Coroutines and Jetpack Navigation

Experience with Jetpack Compose is a strong plus

Experience developing backend services - RESTful APIs, GraphQL

Experience with Mobile Architecture patterns like MVP & MVVM

Experience working with A/B testing, Event frameworks

Ability to collaborate and get results cross-team, in a sophisticated working environment
