Summary: Electrical Engineer with Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering and 22+ years of experience on Smelter (Electrolysis based) basic and detail plan, specifically experience in Rectiformers of rating around 100 MVA and Aluminum smelter facilities such as reduction, carbon, cast house etc. Should have sound understanding of power system study, relay coordination, harmonic study of HV system. Shall have hands on experience of relay coordination study, transformer charging study. Should have executed MR and SR and review of vendor documents of 2 large smelter plants independently, should be specialized in GIS, Switchyard, Rectiformer, Harmonic filter, HV switchgear, Crane and electrical protection system. Have a good knowledge physical plan of Aluminum smelter plant, the principles and practices of related technical areas and of accommodating with other technical disciplines. Candidate should have exposure to Indian, US, Euro and other exotic codes/standards and local practices. Essential Job Duties: 1. Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual electrical studies, designs, reports or proposals, plan criteria, specifications, budget and schedules for HV system, Potline, Rectiformer package of varying complexity. 2. Review of technology supplier document package and implement in electrical plan of Smelter plant such as pot line, rectiformer, cast house etc. 3. Prepare specifications and data sheet of rectiformer, GIS, substation, switchyard, HV/MV switchgear, Electrical SCADA, AC and DC UPS, LV switchgear, MCC, Harmonic filter, cable, substation etc. 4. Prepare MR/SR of rectiformer package based on selected technology supplier, bid evaluation and vendor selection recommendation. 5. Perform review of vendor plan document of rectiformer package, GIS package and participate in plan review meeting with vendor and client. 6. Provide solution to field/pre-commissioning query related to electrical plan of smelter. 7. Assist and provide guidance to engineers to perform conceptual plan, system study, harmonic study, rectifier plan, rectiformer charging study, Potline earthing plan, crane package, substation layout, main cable route and other physical layouts. 8. Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs. for proposals, forecasts and change orders 9. Reviews and checks work of subordinate engineers and provide input for their performance evaluation. 10. Job Knowledge: Possess a broad understanding of the major plan engineering deliverables associated with Smelter. Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates detailed phases of engineering work in a project or staff group Performs work that involves typical engineering practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting plan requirements, and/or difficult coordination requirements. Shall have good understanding of different smelter technology and pot line interface requirement with rectiformer. Is conversant with use of applicable plan codes governing Electrical systems, Equipment, and Physical plan. Shall have extensive experience of preparation of MR /SR for Rectiformer, GIS, substation, switchyard, Harmonic filter, HV switchgear etc. Shall be able to plan electrical power distribution for large capacity smelter plant start from power tie in point to last electrical consumer of plant. Shall have experience on pot line earthing plan, cable sizing, power system study (Load flow, short circuit, large motor starting study), Protection coordination study, Arc flash study etc. Shall have experience of performing / review of different calculation/plan document associated with rectiformer package: Shall possess good knowledge of layouts of substation, rectiformer, switchyard, GIS substation, harmonic filter, control room. Shall have experience on inspection of HV/MV electrical equipment such as GIS, Transformer, AIS switchgear. Coordinates engineering effort specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, with the client, suppliers, and contractors and between other groups. Understanding of engineering planning and control methods including computerized methods. Understanding of the roles played by other departments on projects including basic construction practices and the economics involved. Understanding of industry or regulatory codes and standards and plan criteria pertinent to the engineering discipline. Skill in oral and written communication and writing technical reports. Qualification: 1. Minimum 4-year degree from an accredited college program in Electrical Engineering. 2. Site experience will be an added advantage. Experience: 22+ years of relevant work experience
