Conduct tests to isolate and identify microorganisms using various techniques (e.g., culturing, staining, PCR, and microscopy).
Use laboratory equipment like autoclaves, incubators, microscopes, and automated analyzers.
Perform microbiological testing to detect pathogens or determine microbial loads in samples.
Interpret and record test results accurately and assist in diagnosing or identifying microbial issues.
Assist in identifying resistant strains of bacteria or fungi, contributing to research in infectious diseases or antibiotic resistance.
Maintain aseptic techniques and ensure the sterility of equipment and culture media.
Ensure that laboratory practices meet health and safety regulations, following proper disposal and sanitation protocols.
Maintain accurate records of testing procedures, results, and inventory of supplies.
Document all procedures and findings in a clear and detailed manner.
Assist in the preparation of reports, ensuring that results are communicated effectively to supervisors or researchers.
Maintain a clean, organized lab environment, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Work closely with other scientists, technicians, and professionals in a team environment.
Assist with research projects or clinical studies by providing data and supporting research protocols.
