Job Description

A Dairy Microbiologist in the dairy industry is responsible for ensuring the safety and quality of milk and dairy products by studying and managing microorganisms. They conduct tests, analyze results, and develop strategies to prevent contamination, working in quality control, research, and product development. Their work is crucial for maintaining industry standards, extending shelf life, and improving dairy product formulations. Key Responsibilities:

Microbiological Testing:

Conducting various tests on raw milk, dairy products, and process water to identify and quantify microorganisms, including pathogens, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

Quality Control:

Monitoring and ensuring the quality of dairy products throughout the production process, from raw materials to finished goods, by analyzing microbial content and other relevant parameters.

Contamination Prevention:

Identifying potential sources of contamination and developing strategies to prevent bacterial growth, including implementing hygiene practices, sanitation protocols, and environmental monitoring.

Research and Development:

Collaborating with product development teams to improve the safety, shelf life, and quality of dairy products by researching the effects of microorganisms on fermentation processes and other aspects of production.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

Analyzing laboratory results, preparing reports on findings, and maintaining accurate records of tests and procedures.

Supervision and Training:

Supervising and training laboratory staff in microbiological techniques, ensuring proper maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.

Collaboration:

Working with dairy producers, quality assurance teams, and other departments to implement safety measures, improve hygienic practices, and ensure product quality.
Skills and Qualifications:

Education:

A Master's degree in Microbiology, Bacteriology, or a related field is typically required.

Experience:

Experience in dairy or food microbiology, including knowledge of dairy production processes and advanced microbiological techniques, is often preferred.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in microbiological techniques, laboratory equipment operation, data analysis, and report writing.

Soft Skills:

Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Knowledge:

A solid understanding of food safety standards, hygiene practices, and relevant regulations.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
