Perform microbiological tests such as culture, sensitivity, Gram staining, AFB staining, and fungal studies.
Ensure accurate identification and reporting of microorganisms and antibiotic susceptibility patterns.
Maintain and monitor quality control procedures in the microbiology lab.
Support hospital Infection Control Committee (ICC) with surveillance data and antibiograms.
Participate in antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention initiatives.
Ensure timely calibration and maintenance of microbiology equipment.
Validate new tests, reagents, and methods as per NABH and NABL standards.
Train and guide lab technicians in sample handling, testing, and documentation.
Maintain laboratory records, logs, and reports as per NABH documentation protocols.
Participate in internal and external quality assurance programs (EQAS).
Assist in outbreak investigations and provide data to clinical teams for infection trend analysis.
Qualifications & Experience:
M.Sc. / Ph.D. in Microbiology from a recognized university.
Minimum
2-5 years of experience
in a hospital-based microbiology laboratory
Good knowledge of control, antimicrobial resistance patterns, and hospital-acquired infections.
Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and documentation requirements.
