Job Description

The Manager, Accounting manages two or more individuals. Ensures organizationaladherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or otherregulatory requirements. Ensures timely preparation and review of requiredregulatory filings. Advises in annual budgeting and prepares accounting reportsfor executive leadership. Reviews work submitted by accountants and managesaccounting close processes. Performs analysis on organizational or businessunit financial and accounting metrics for presentation to leadership. Managesthe activities of supervisors and/or individual contributors.

  • Manages staff, including hiring, firing, and conductingperformance reviews
  • Ability to analyze monthly variances
  • Researches and documents on proper US GAAP accounting
  • Prepares and / or reviews journal entries
  • Reviews and/or performs account reconciliations
  • Assists in the preparation of month-end and year-endfinancial statements
  • Performs and is responsible for general control activities
  • Assists in the preparation and review of monthly andquarterly consolidation packages
  • Identifies exposures and recommends corrective action tomanagement
  • Evaluates and monitors controls to ensure compliance withSOX
  • Responds to information requests from staff at all levelsand all functions
  • Completes special projects
  • Interacts with internal and external customers
Qualifications Education and Experience:Undergraduate degreePrevious experience that provides the knowledge, skills, andabilities to perform the job (comparable to 5+ years) or equivalent andrelevant combination of education, training, and experience.1+ year of leadership responsibility Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Strong understanding of US GAAPAbility to research and interpret US GAAPStrong supervisory and management skillsProficient in problem solving and prioritizingWork effectively with all levels of employeesStrong knowledge of approved accounting practices includingfinancial statement information and preparation of financial reports andstatisticsStrong analytical and quantitative skillsStrong Microsoft Office skills for analysis and presentationof dataDemonstrates strong presentation skillsExcellent communication skills both written and verbalExcellent interpersonal skillsAbility to multi-task and handle pressure Working Conditions and Environment:Work is performed in an office environment with exposure toelectrical office equipment.Frequently drives to site locations and frequently travelsboth domestic and international.Long, varied hours may be required Physical Requirements:Frequently stationary for 6-8 hours per day.Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability tomake fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.Moderate mobility required.Occasional crouching, stooping, bending and twisting ofupper body and neck.Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves)objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs.Ability to access and use a variety of computer softwaredeveloped both in-house and off-the-shelf.Able to communicate information and ideas so others willunderstand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideaspresented through spoken words and sentences.Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitiveinformation to diverse groups both internally and externally.Ability to apply basic principles to solve conceptualissues.Performs a wide range of variable tasks as dictated byvariable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to theoccurrence.
