Job Description

Job Summary:

A Metallurgical Engineer is responsible for researching, developing, testing, and improving the properties of metals and metal products. This role involves applying knowledge of physical and chemical behavior of metallic elements to solve engineering problems related to manufacturing, material selection, heat treatment, and failure analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

Analyze the physical and chemical properties of metals and alloys. Develop and improve metal processing methods such as casting, forging, rolling, welding, and heat treatment. Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations on metallic components. Select appropriate metals for product applications based on strength, corrosion resistance, cost, and other criteria. Collaborate with design, quality, and production teams to ensure metal specifications meet performance standards. Monitor and optimize metallurgical processes for efficiency and quality. Prepare technical reports, material specifications, and process documentation. Conduct research on new materials and emerging technologies in metallurgy. Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations. Support quality assurance initiatives and respond to customer concerns related to material issues.

Skills Required:

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in software for data analysis and design (e.g., MATLAB, AutoCAD, SolidWorks). Understanding of mechanical testing (e.g., tensile, hardness, impact). Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
