Minimum 2 years in managing hostel/hotel mess operations
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day operations of the mess (kitchen & dining hall), ensuring timely, hygienic and nutritious food service to all residents.
Supervise mess staff (cooks, helpers, servers), manage schedules, attendance, leave requests.
Maintain inventory of mess supplies, provisions, groceries, kitchenware, crockery; procure from approved vendors.
Check quality and quantity of supplies, inspect deliveries and kitchen stocks.
Control food cost and mess budget; prepare regular reports on expenditure, suggest cost-efficiencies.
Ensure cleanliness of kitchen, dining hall, storage areas, refuse disposal; enforce hygiene & safety standards.
Monitor dining hall discipline & decorum; ensure smooth food service during meal times.
Maintain records: daily menu, consumption, billing, guest mess charges (if any), mess dues.
Liaise with hostel administration/warden for feedback, issues arising from food service; address residents' complaints.
Implement and oversee compliance with health & safety laws/regulations, fire safety, food safety standards.
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum 2 years experience as a Mess Manager / Supervisor in hostel or hotel setting.
Strong organizational and leadership skills.
Good knowledge of food hygiene, kitchen safety, inventory & cost control.
Ability to manage a team, resolve conflicts, maintain discipline.
Reliable, punctual, committed to quality and consistency.
