The Mess Captain is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the mess, ensuring food service runs smoothly, hygiene standards are maintained, and service staff perform efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily mess operations and ensure timely meal service
Supervise and coordinate service staff duties and shifts
Ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety standards are followed
Monitor portion control and minimize food wastage
Maintain discipline and proper conduct among staff
Handle complaints, feedback, and resolve service issues
Coordinate with kitchen staff regarding menu, serving schedules, and special requirements
Maintain inventory of serving items (plates, cutlery, water, etc.)
Report daily operations and issues to management/administration

Set up dining areas before meals and clean after service

Assist in washing and arranging utensils and serving equipment
Follow hygiene and safety guidelines at all times
Support the Mess Captain in daily operations
Refill water, food items, and ensure adequate supplies during meals
Handle members politely and respond to basic requests
