plays a key role in connecting companies (clients) with the financial products, advisory services, and capital market solutions that a merchant bank offers. Their work blends

relationship management, financial advisory, and deal origination/sales

.

Here's a detailed breakdown of their role:

1. Client Relationship Management



Build and maintain relationships with

corporate clients, institutional investors, and high-net-worth individuals

. Understand clients' business models, funding needs, and strategic goals. Act as the

primary point of contact

between the client and the bank's internal teams (investment banking, research, trading, etc.).

2. Business Development & Deal Origination



Identify opportunities for:

Raising capital

(equity, debt, mezzanine financing)

M&A advisory

Corporate restructuring

Private placements

IPO or rights issues

Pitch financial solutions or products to prospective clients. Coordinate with the bank's analysts and product teams to

structure proposals

3. Product & Service Sales



Merchant banks often offer multiple services; the salesperson promotes these:

Equity/Debt issuance

(e.g., IPOs, bonds, debentures)

M&A advisory services
