Job Summary:
The Category Specialist - Merchandising (with Buyer Assistance) plays a key role in supporting the execution of
category strategies, assortment planning, product lifecycle management, and supplier coordination. This role
assists buyers in operational and analytical tasks and ensures that merchandise plans align with financial targets
and customer demand, contributing to an optimized in-store and online experience in the retail sector.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Category Merchandising Execution
Support the development and execution of merchandise plans for assigned categories.
Assist in seasonal range planning, assortment optimization, and visual merchandising alignment.
Analyze product performance to recommend adjustments to mix, pricing, and placement.
2. Buyer Assistance
Provide day-to-day operational support to Buyers and Category Managers who are based in Onshore.
Assist in product setup, item creation, cost entry, and vendor onboarding in merchandising systems.
Support in developing and maintaining seasonal line sheets and assortment plans.
3. Inventory & Assortment Management
Monitor stock levels, sell-through rates, and suggest reorders or markdowns based on performance.
Collaborate with planning teams to manage stock allocations and replenishment strategies.
Identify slow-moving or out-of-stock products and work with relevant teams to resolve issues.
4. Merchandising Analytics & Reporting
Generate reports on category performance (sales, margins, inventory health).
Track the success of planogram execution and visual merchandising compliance.
Provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
5. Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with planning, marketing, e-commerce, and supply chain teams.
Communicate with stores to gather feedback on product performance and customer preferences.
o Coordinate product launches, markdowns, and promotional strategies with marketing and buying teams
