Job Objective



The Quality MEP Engineer/Manager is responsible for ensuring that all Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Firefighting, and HVAC installations meet project specifications, statutory requirements, international codes, and organizational quality standards. This role requires continuous monitoring, inspection, documentation, and coordination with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to deliver safe, reliable, and compliant MEP systems.

Key Responsibilities



1.

Quality Assurance & Control



Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) for MEP works.

Review and approve Method Statements (MS), Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and quality checklists.

Ensure execution of MEP works as per project specifications, drawings, and relevant codes/standards (IS, NBC, NFPA, ASHRAE, BS, IEC, ASTM).

Conduct site audits and verify adherence to quality procedures. Resolve NCRs/SORs using Autodesk Construction Cloud (digital quality system).

Ensure compliance with EHS, IGBC, and ESG standards in MEP activities.

Identify non-conformities and ensure effective implementation of CAPA.

Prepare COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) analysis reports.

Design Review



Review shop drawings, as-built drawings, and technical submittals for compliance.

Ensure clash detection and resolution using BIM/Revit or other tools.

Recommend value engineering solutions to optimize cost without compromising quality.

3. Tender Package Review



Review BOQs and technical specifications during tender preparation.

Ensure alignment of tender documents with project quality requirements.

Site Monitoring & Inspections



Review and approve contractors' method statements, ITPs, and work programs.

Perform daily inspections of MEP activities, including installation, testing, and commissioning.

Monitor contractors' progress against approved WMS, specifications, and quality standards.

Witness inspections and material testing as per approved ITPs; record in SAP for free-issue materials.

Certify MEP-related work bills in SAP based on quality observations.

Inspect incoming materials for compliance with approved submittals and specifications.

Verify calibration and validity of measuring/testing equipment used on-site.

Documentation & Reporting



Maintain accurate quality records (inspection reports, test results, NCRs, corrective action reports).

Prepare and submit weekly/monthly QA/QC reports to management.

Maintain logs for material approvals, test certificates, and documentation in line with ISO 9001.

Ensure proper filing, traceability, and audit readiness of inspection documents.

Testing & Commissioning



Witness pre-commissioning and commissioning tests of MEP systems (e.g., water pressure test, insulation resistance test, HVAC balancing, fire alarm testing).

Ensure performance and functional tests meet project requirements.

Validate results and issue approvals prior to handover.

Coordinate snag rectification and closure with commissioning teams.

Coordination & Communication



Collaborate with consultants, contractors, and internal teams to resolve quality concerns.

Support internal/external audits and ensure compliance with audit findings.

Provide training and technical guidance to site teams on QA/QC standards.

Participate in quality review meetings and report performance metrics.

Ensure smooth handover of systems, including O&M manuals, test certificates, and training to facility management teams.

Qualifications & Experience:



1. Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

2. 8-12 years of relevant QA/QC experience in MEP systems (real estate, high-rise, commercial, or infrastructure projects).

3. Strong knowledge of MEP systems: HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Firefighting, ELV.

4. In-depth understanding of QA/QC processes, ISO 9001:2015, and related documentation.

5. Proven experience in reviewing and approving Method Statements, ITPs, and material submittals.

6. Familiarity with international and national codes/standards: IS, NBC, NFPA, ASHRAE, IEC, BS, ASTM.
