MEP Engineer / MEP Coordinator / MEP Design Engineer / MEP Site Engineer (Title may vary based on role and experience)
Job Objective:
To plan, design, coordinate, and supervise all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems in construction projects--ensuring they are efficient, compliant with codes, and meet the project's operational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical (HVAC, Fire Protection, etc.)
Design and review HVAC systems
Coordinate installation of chillers, ductwork, and ventilation systems
Ensure thermal comfort and energy efficiency
Electrical (Lighting, Power, Fire Alarm)
Prepare electrical load calculations and layouts
Supervise installation of wiring, panels, lighting, and backup systems
Ensure compliance with electrical safety codes
Plumbing (Water Supply, Drainage, Gas)
Design and inspect water supply and sewage systems
Oversee installation of plumbing fixtures, piping, and valves
Coordinate stormwater and gas distribution systems
General Duties
Review and interpret MEP drawings and specifications
Ensure integration with structural and architectural elements (clash detection)
Conduct site inspections and quality checks
Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and project managers
Monitor project progress and ensure timely completion
Prepare and maintain documentation (BOQs, RFIs, reports)
Required Skills:
Strong knowledge of MEP systems, codes, and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, NEC, IPC, etc.)
Proficiency in design and drafting tools (AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks)
Understanding of building services and construction methods
Project management and coordination
Problem-solving and attention to detail
Communication and teamwork
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering
Professional certifications (optional but valuable):
LEED, PMP, Autodesk Certified, etc.
2-5 years of experience (entry to mid-level roles)
5+ years for senior or managerial MEP roles
