The MEP Engineer is responsible for the design, coordination, installation, and maintenance of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems in building projects. This role involves collaborating with architects, structural engineers, and contractors to ensure all MEP systems are efficient, safe, and comply with industry standards and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and Planning
Develop detailed MEP designs, drawings, and specifications in compliance with project requirements and local codes.
Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and system layout for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and firefighting systems.
Review architectural and structural plans to ensure MEP systems are well-coordinated and clash-free.
2. Project Coordination
Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, contractors, and suppliers during all project phases.
Prepare technical reports, shop drawings, and material submittals for client and consultant approval.
Monitor and manage MEP site activities to ensure timely completion of work according to design and quality standards.
3. Installation and Supervision
Supervise MEP installations to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and safety standards.
Conduct inspections and testing of installed systems for quality assurance and functionality.
Troubleshoot on-site issues related to HVAC, electrical, or plumbing systems.
4. Cost and Quality Control
Assist in preparing cost estimates, bills of quantities, and material lists.
Ensure the use of quality materials and adherence to project budgets and timelines.
5. Compliance and Documentation
Ensure all MEP works comply with local authority regulations and international standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, BS, IS codes, etc.).
Maintain proper documentation of project activities, inspection reports, and as-built drawings.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering (specialization in MEP preferred).
Experience:
3-10 years of relevant experience in MEP design, supervision, or coordination.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and other design software.
Knowledge of HVAC design, electrical distribution, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
Strong understanding of building codes and standards.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
