Position Overview
The Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Design & Estimation Engineer will play a crucial role in the project delivery lifecycle for an interior design company. This role involves planning, designing, and estimating all MEP systems within commercial and residential interior fit-out projects, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective, and code-compliant outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
MEP System Design:
Develop detailed designs for HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems tailored for interior spaces.
Prepare technical drawings, schematics, and BOQs using CAD/BIM software.
Ensure all designs comply with local codes, standards, and client requirements.
Cost Estimation:
Analyze project drawings, specifications, and scope to prepare accurate cost estimates for MEP works.
Prepare and review detailed material take-offs and pricing.
Consult with suppliers and subcontractors to gather material costs and lead times.
Coordination & Project Support:
Coordinate MEP requirements with architects, interior designers, and other engineering disciplines.
Participate in design reviews and value engineering to optimize solutions and control costs.
Support site teams with technical advice and resolve design/installation issues.
Documentation & Reporting:
Prepare and submit MEP design calculations, technical submittals, and compliance documents.
Maintain up-to-date project records and estimation databases.
Quality & Compliance:
Conduct technical reviews to ensure safety, efficiency, and sustainability in MEP solutions.
Stay abreast of the latest MEP industry trends, products, and technologies.
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field.
5+ years' experience in MEP design and estimation, preferably in the interior fit-out sector.
Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and estimation software.
Strong knowledge of relevant codes (local, national, and international).
Excellent analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
