Job Description

Overview:

The MEP Designer is responsible for designing, drafting, and coordinating electrical and plumbing systems for residential, commercial, or industrial projects. This includes preparing detailed drawings, calculations, and technical documentation while ensuring compliance with codes and seamless integration with other building services.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop electrical and plumbing system layouts and designs as per project requirements. Prepare detailed drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams, and riser diagrams for both disciplines. Perform load calculations, cable sizing, voltage drop analysis, and short-circuit studies for electrical systems. Design lighting systems, power distribution, earthing, and lightning protection. Plan plumbing systems including water supply, drainage, waste, venting, and rainwater harvesting. Size pipes, cables, and equipment accurately based on design requirements. Select and specify electrical and plumbing fixtures, equipment, valves, and accessories. Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ), technical specifications, and cost estimates for electrical and plumbing works. Coordinate designs with architectural, structural, and other MEP disciplines to ensure smooth integration. Review and approve vendor drawings and technical submittals for both electrical and plumbing systems. Incorporate energy-efficient and sustainable design practices for both electrical and plumbing systems. Maintain accurate documentation and records of all design work and revisions. Attend project meetings and collaborate effectively with project managers, architects, and engineering teams.
