Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled

MemSQL / SingleStore Developer

with 6-10 years of hands-on experience in designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance data solutions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for architecting and implementing real-time data pipelines, optimizing distributed SQL queries, and supporting mission-critical analytics platforms built on SingleStore (formerly MemSQL).

Key ResponsibilitiesDatabase Design & Development

Design, develop, and maintain

SingleStore/MemSQL schemas, tables, pipelines, stored procedures, and functions

. Develop

high-performance SQL queries

, ensuring efficient use of SingleStore distributed architecture. Implement

real-time ingestion pipelines

using SingleStore Pipelines, Kafka, S3, or other streaming sources.

Performance Optimization

Conduct

query tuning, indexing, partitioning, sharding, and memory optimization

. Analyze execution plans and identify bottlenecks to ensure optimum performance. Work closely with DevOps/data engineering teams to tune cluster performance and scaling.

Data Integration & ETL

Develop and maintain

ETL/ELT workflows

integrating data from multiple heterogeneous systems. Work with tools such as

Kafka, Spark, Airflow, DBT, or custom ETL pipelines

.

System Architecture & Maintenance

Participate in the design of

high-availability, distributed data architectures

. Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain SingleStore clusters across dev, QA, and production environments. Implement

backup, recovery, security policies, and cluster upgrades

.

Collaboration & Documentation

Work with cross-functional teams (Data Engineering, Analytics, DevOps, Product). Prepare technical documentation, data models, and design specifications. Provide support for production data issues and participate in on-call rotations (as required).

Required Skills & QualificationsTechnical Skills

6-10 years of experience

in database development, with

3-7 years specific to MemSQL/SingleStore

. Strong expertise in:

Distributed SQL systems

SingleStore pipelines, partitions, cluster management

High-performance SQL and stored programming

Solid understanding of:

Columnstore vs Rowstore

Sharding, indexing, query optimization

Distributed database internals

Experience with

Big Data / Streaming

tools: Kafka, Spark, Debezium, Airflow, DBT (any combination is fine) Experience with

cloud platforms

: AWS / Azure / GCP (SingleStore SaaS or self-managed deployments) Proficiency in Python/Java/Go (at least one) for data engineering tasks. Strong understanding of

data modeling (OLTP + OLAP)

Soft Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work in fast-paced, agile environments. Strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills. Detail-oriented with good documentation practices.
