Ensuring radiation-producing machines and diagnostic equipment are operating correctly, safely, and effectively through regular testing and calibration.
Radiation safety:
Developing and implementing procedures to protect patients, staff, and the public from radiation hazards.
Diagnostic imaging:
Working with technologies like X-rays, CT scans, nuclear medicine, and MRIs to optimize image quality and dose reduction.
Consultation:
Collaborating with physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare providers to solve problems related to radiation and to advise on the best use of technology.
Research and development:
Researching new treatment options and technologies, and potentially developing new safety procedures.
Education:
Teaching and training medical students, residents, and other staff.
