Job Summary:
The Medical Superintendent/Director is responsible for the overall management, supervision, and coordination of medical services within the healthcare facility. They ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in compliance with healthcare regulations and standards, while also overseeing medical staff, hospital operations, and clinical governance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Strategic Management
Lead and manage the medical team including physicians, specialists, and clinical staff.
Develop and implement strategic plans for medical services aligned with the hospital's mission.
Represent the medical department in executive leadership meetings and decision-making processes.
2. Clinical Governance and Quality Assurance
Ensure clinical excellence and adherence to evidence-based practices.
Monitor and improve patient care standards, infection control measures, and patient safety protocols.
Oversee audits, clinical reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
3. Operational Management
Supervise day-to-day medical operations, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of care.
Coordinate interdepartmental collaboration for optimal patient outcomes.
Oversee duty rosters, leave schedules, and staff performance evaluations.
4. Regulatory Compliance and Accreditation
Ensure compliance with health regulations, licensing requirements, and accreditation standards (e.g., NABH, JCI).
Liaise with government health authorities, legal bodies, and accrediting agencies.
5. Human Resources and Development
Recruit, train, and retain high-quality medical professionals.
Promote continuing medical education (CME) and professional development for medical staff.
Handle disciplinary actions, grievances, and conflict resolution within the medical team.
6. Financial Oversight
Collaborate with finance and administration to manage medical budgets and optimize resource utilization.
Evaluate cost-effectiveness of medical procedures and recommend improvements.
Qualifications:
Education:
MBBS with a postgraduate degree (MD/MS) in a relevant medical field. A Master's in Hospital Administration (MHA) or equivalent is an added advantage.
Experience:
Minimum 10-15 years of clinical and administrative experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Licensure:
Valid registration with the Medical Council of the respective country/state.
