The Medical Superintendent is responsible for overall clinical administration, quality of patient care, medical staff coordination, statutory compliance, and smooth hospital operations. The role ensures seamless functioning of all medical departments and adherence to healthcare standards.
Key Responsibilities:1. Clinical Administration
Oversee daily functioning of all clinical departments.
Ensure proper protocols for patient care, safety, and treatment.
Monitor clinical performance and implement corrective measures.
Coordinate with Consultants, RMOs, Nursing, and Paramedical teams.
2. Medical Staff Management
Supervise and guide doctors, RMOs, and clinical staff.
Manage duty rosters, leave approvals, and discipline of medical staff.
Conduct clinical meetings, trainings, and performance reviews.
3. Quality & Compliance
Ensure NABH/ISO standards are implemented and followed.
Maintain medical records, infection control practices, and documentation.
Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory medical guidelines.
Conduct audits and implement quality improvement initiatives.
4. Patient Care & Grievance Handling
Ensure high-quality patient care and satisfaction.
Address patient complaints and resolve medical issues promptly.
Review critical cases, medico-legal cases, and mortality/morbidity reports.
5. Coordination & Communication
Act as the primary link between management and medical teams.
Coordinate with Nursing, HR, Finance, Operations, and Facility teams.
Participate in strategic planning for hospital growth and improvements.
6. Emergency & Crisis Management
Oversee emergency services, trauma care, and disaster preparedness.
Ensure availability of medical staff and resources during emergencies.
7. Administrative Oversight
Approve medical purchases, equipment needs, and department budgets.
Ensure optimum utilization of medical manpower and resources.
Review hospital policies and implement operational improvements.
Qualifications & Experience
MBBS with MD/MS/MHA (preferred).
Minimum 8-10 years of clinical/administrative experience.
Experience in hospital management and
NABH standards
is essential.
