The Medical Social Worker provides support to patients and their families by addressing psychosocial, emotional, and practical needs during the course of treatment and recovery. They work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure that patients receive comprehensive care, guiding them through medical, financial, and emotional challenges.
Roles and Responsibilities of medical Social Worker
1. Screen new patients to assess their medical, financial, emotional, social and environmental needs
2. Find out if it is necessary to address any specific health needs or issues
3. Coordinate care plans and any services the patients may require with the medical staff
4. Provide advice and counselling to patients and their families about living with injuries or illnesses
5. Participate in support group discussions and help patients cope with their emotional and social responses
6.Participate in continuing education to improve medical social work knowledge and skills
Training in emergency medicine or relevant field
NABH hospital experience is preferable
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations
Ready to join immediately or at short notice
