Job Summary:



The Medical Records Follow-Up Specialist is responsible for managing and overseeing the accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of patient medical records. This role involves following up on records, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards, and coordinating with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation. The specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of patient information and supporting the efficient operation of healthcare services.



Responsibilities and Duties:



Contacting Insurance via phone other means to obtain information for records sent

Enter and update patient records status into electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Provide support and guidance to staff by record-keeping procedures and policies.

Prepare and submit reports on the status of medical records and follow-up activities.

Document and track follow-up actions and resolutions.

Implement and maintain procedures for record management and retrieval.

Safeguard patient information and ensure confidentiality at all times.

Handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.


Qualifications and Skills:



Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical record management software.

Strong data management and typing skills with attention to detail.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with healthcare providers and patients.

Ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.

Strong organizational abilities with a focus on managing multiple tasks and priorities.

Ability to track and follow up on various records and documentation requirements.

Capability to analyze records for completeness and identify areas needing attention.

Problem-solving skills to address and resolve discrepancies in medical records.

Understanding of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and state-specific privacy laws.

Knowledge of medical terminology and record-keeping practices.

High level of accuracy in reviewing and entering data.

Thoroughness in ensuring all aspects of medical records are complete and accurate.


Education and Experience:

B.A,B.Com, B.Sc. or equivalent required.

Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management, Medical Records, M.B.A or a related field preferred


. Experience:



Previous experience in a medical records or health information management role is preferred.

Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and healthcare documentation processes.

* Experience in a healthcare setting or administrative role is advantageous.
