1. Attending to the In-patients, Out-patients
2. To take rounds and examine individual patients.
3. To take proper history of the patient
4. Inform the respective consultant about the admission and follow his/her orders.
5. Instruct the nursing staff about the necessary orders to be carried out.
6. Inform the nursing staff about any changes in the line of treatment.
7. Inform the respective consultant about any new findings.
8. To follow up all the investigations and trace their results. Inform the reports to the Consultant, Note down investigation results in the investigation sheet.
9. To enter the treatment sheets for the following day. Cross check the same for the dosages of the medications.
10. Confirm the investigations to be sent on the following day (To avoid unnecessary tests and repetition). To take special precautions for any special investigations.
11. To enter pre-operative orders in the treatment sheet.
12. To check whether the consent for the surgery has been taken from the patient. If not inform the respective consultant
13. To inform the Anaesthetist on duty regarding the surgery/procedure planned, clinical history & the condition of the patient admitted. To carry out all the pre-operative orders.
14. To attend patients' complaints. To calm the patients if they are apprehensive. Inform the consultant if needed. RMOs should keep themselves informed about the patient's illness, the plan of care, the proposed surgical treatment etc, to discuss with the patients and to gain their confidence.
15. Proper handover is given to the on-duty doctor.
16. Completion of Medical records as per NABH guidelines
