The Medical Lab Technician is responsible for performing routine and specialized laboratory tests, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of results. The role involves sample collection, processing, analysis, equipment maintenance, and adherence to quality and safety standards.
Collect blood, urine, stool, swab, and other clinical samples following proper protocols.
Label, store, and transport samples as per NABL standards.
Ensure patient comfort and safety during sample collection.
2. Laboratory Testing
Perform hematology, biochemistry, immunology, microbiology, and serology tests.
Operate lab analyzers, centrifuges, incubators, microscopes, and other equipment.
Prepare reagents, slides, and culture media when required.
3. Quality Control & Documentation
Run daily, weekly, and monthly quality control checks.
Maintain accurate logs, worksheets, calibration records, and QC reports.
Ensure compliance with NABL/ISO standards and internal SOPs.
4. Reporting & Communication
Validate and upload results into LIMS (Lab Information Management System).
Notify the pathologist or supervisor of critical values immediately.
Maintain clear and professional communication with doctors and patients.
5. Equipment Maintenance
Calibrate and clean analyzers regularly.
Troubleshoot basic errors and coordinate for service when needed.
Ensure all instruments operate under optimal conditions.
6. Safety & Hygiene
Follow biosafety guidelines and infection control protocols.
Dispose biomedical waste as per government regulations.
Maintain cleanliness and sterility in the lab environment.
Required Qualifications
DMLT / BMLT from a recognized institution.
0-3 years of experience (freshers can also apply depending on requirement).
Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques, equipment, and safety practices.
Experience with LIMS software is an added advantage.
Skills Required
