Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Operations
Lead, mentor, and guide a team of medical coders to achieve daily and monthly targets.
Allocate workloads, monitor team performance, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
Conduct regular team meetings, training sessions, and performance reviews.
Support new coders during onboarding and provide refresher training when required
Coding Quality & Compliance
Review medical records and ensure coding accuracy as per ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and payer-specific guidelines.
Perform random and scheduled audits to identify errors, maintain 95-98% quality standards.
Ensure compliance with industry standards (AAPC, AHIMA), HIPAA rules, and internal SOPs.
Resolve complex coding issues and act as an escalation point for the team.
Process Management
Track team productivity, TAT, and quality metrics and share reports with management.
Identify process gaps and implement improvements for higher efficiency.
Coordinate with QA, Billing, AR, and Client teams to ensure smooth operations.
Assist in client updates, new project transitions, and guideline changes.
Client Interaction
Participate in client calls, clarify coding doubts, and ensure alignment with client expectations.
Communicate updates, feedback, and process changes to the team.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences / Biotechnology / Pharmacy / Nursing (preferred).
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent mandatory.
1-2years of experience in Medical Coding; minimum 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and payer-specific rules.
Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and team management skills.Ability to handle pressure, multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
Preferred Experience
Exposure to ED, IP, OP, Radiology, Surgery, E/M, HCC, or multi-specialty coding.
Experience working with US healthcare clients.
Hands-on experience in coding auditing tools and EMR/EHR platforms.
