We are seeking a detail-oriented and certified Medical Coder with hands-on experience in Anesthesia, Behavioral Therapy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Chiropractic services. The role involves accurate assignment of diagnosis and procedure codes to ensure compliance, optimal reimbursement, and adherence to regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Review clinical documentation and assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for multi-specialty services.
Code Anesthesia services, including time-based coding, modifiers, and ASA crosswalks.
Code Behavioral Therapy services, including psychotherapy, ABA, and mental health procedures.
Accurately code Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy evaluations, treatment sessions, and modalities.
Code Chiropractic services, including spinal manipulation and adjunctive procedures.
Ensure compliance with CMS, AMA, payer-specific, and NCCI guidelines.
Apply correct modifiers, units, and place-of-service codes.
Identify and resolve coding edits, denials, and documentation gaps.
Collaborate with providers and billing teams to clarify documentation.
Maintain productivity and quality standards as defined by the organization.
Stay updated with coding guidelines, payer policies, and regulatory changes.
Participate in internal audits and quality improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS Level II coding.
In-depth understanding of therapy-based coding and anesthesia coding rules.
Familiarity with time-based coding, units calculation, and modifiers.
Attention to detail with high accuracy standards.
Ability to work independently and meet turnaround timelines.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
Proficiency in EHR/EMR and encoder tools.
Qualifications
Minimum 2-5 years of medical coding experience in anesthesia and therapy specialties.
Experience working with US healthcare coding standards.
Graduate in Life Sciences / Medical Coding Certification preferred.
Preferred Experience
Exposure to Behavioral Health coding (ABA, psychotherapy).
Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer guidelines.
Experience in RCM or billing workflows.
Prior experience in multi-specialty clinics or hospital settings.
