We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Coder specializing in Inpatient coding to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately translating medical records into standardized codes for billing, reimbursement, and statistical purposes. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of inpatient coding guidelines, medical terminology, and coding systems such as DRG, CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10. The Medical Coder will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and optimizing revenue cycle processes.
Responsibilities
Review and analyze inpatient medical records to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG codes.
Ensure accurate documentation of diagnoses and procedures in accordance with current coding standards and guidelines.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies or ambiguities.
Maintain compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations and billing policies.
Utilize EMR/EHR systems to input and verify coded data efficiently.
Support medical billing and collection processes by providing precise coding information.
Keep up-to-date with changes in coding regulations, medical terminology, and healthcare policies.
Assist in audits or reviews related to coding accuracy and compliance.
Skills
Proficiency in DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology and medical records management.
Experience with medical billing and collections processes.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for documentation and coding purposes.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy in coding.
Ability to interpret complex medical documentation and translate it into precise codes.
Knowledge of healthcare regulations related to inpatient coding and billing standards.
