We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Coder - Radiology & IVR to join our healthcare operations team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in coding radiology procedures, interventional radiology (IVR), diagnostic medical tests, medical scans, and therapeutic services. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate clinical documentation, compliant coding practices, and optimized reimbursement while maintaining the highest standards of data integrity and regulatory adherence.
Requirements:
Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyze medical records, physician notes, operative reports, and diagnostic findings to assign accurate medical codes.
• Perform coding for radiology procedures, including diagnostic imaging, contrast studies, and advanced imaging modalities.
• Handle Interventional Radiology (IVR) coding for minimally invasive procedures, image-guided therapies, and vascular/non-vascular interventions.
• Accurately code medical tests, medical scans, and therapeutic procedures using applicable coding guidelines.
• Apply appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes in compliance with regulatory standards and payer requirements.
• Ensure documentation supports medical necessity and coding accuracy for radiology and therapy services.
• Identify and resolve coding discrepancies, denials, and edits related to imaging and therapy claims.
• Collaborate with physicians, radiologists, and clinical staff to clarify documentation and ensure coding completeness.
• Stay updated with coding guidelines, payer-specific rules, and industry best practices related to radiology and IVR.
• Maintain productivity and quality benchmarks while ensuring strict adherence to compliance and confidentiality standards.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong hands-on experience in Radiology and IVR medical coding.
• In-depth knowledge of medical tests, diagnostic scans, and therapeutic services.
• Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding standards.
• Excellent understanding of anatomy, medical terminology, and imaging procedures.
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to interpret complex clinical documentation and translate it into accurate codes.
• Familiarity with healthcare compliance, auditing standards, and reimbursement workflows.
• Effective communication skills for interaction with clinical and billing teams.

Experience & Qualifications

• 2-5 years of relevant experience in medical coding, with a strong focus on radiology and IVR.
• Certification such as CPC, CCS, or equivalent is preferred.
• Experience working with EHR systems and coding software is an advantage.
