Job Description

A medical attendant provides essential patient support with daily living (bathing, dressing, meals, mobility) and basic care (vitals, medication reminders, specimen collection), while also offering comfort, ensuring safety, and communicating patient needs to the healthcare team, acting as a crucial link for patients needing help with personal care and managing health conditions at home or in a facility. They help with hygiene, feeding, walking, positioning, and can assist with monitoring blood pressure, temperature, and blood sugar, all while maintaining patient confidentiality and following hospital protocols.
Key Responsibilities
: Assisting with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and changing patient positions.
Support: Helping with meals, feeding, hydration, and using mobility aids like walkers or wheelchairs.
: Taking and recording vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse) and assisting with basic checks like blood sugar.
: Supervising or reminding patients about medication administration.
: Moving patients to different areas within the facility or to appointments.
: Clearly relaying patient needs, changes in condition, or concerns to nurses or doctors.
: Answering call lights, keeping rooms tidy, and ensuring patient comfort.
: Adhering to safety protocols, infection control, and maintaining patient privacy.
Typical Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent, Experience in healthcare (preferred), Strong communication and interpersonal skills, Ability to follow instructions and attention to detail, and Compassion and patience.
Settings
Hospitals, Home healthcare (in-home care), and Nursing homes/Assisted living facilities.
