Overview
As part of our public engagement efforts, we are strengthening our media presence in India & Sri Lanka. We are looking for a media training consultant to prepare our spokespersons to engage actively and confidently with regional, national, and international media.
Main Objectives
To equip organizational spokespersons in India and Sri Lanka with the skills, tools, and confidence to handle media interviews, communicate core messages effectively, and manage challenging questions from journalists.
Deliverables
Develop a customized training agenda, tools, and materials tailored to:
The media environments of India and Sri Lanka
Interview techniques when meeting a journalist on location
Managing challenging or sensitive questions
Media landscape brief: Present an overview of the media landscape in India & Sri Lanka, identify relevant journalist profiles and common media practices in both countries
Training delivery, coaching & feedback: Conduct a 4-day training session in-person, 8 hours/day, remote session for Sri Lanka team, interview techniques, include practical simulations such as interview, to be recorded, and facilitate feedback, and cover crisis communication.
Final report: summarize the training, individual performance assessment, and future recommendations.
General Terms and Conditions for Request for Proposal
Applicants must provide all requisite information under this RFP and clearly and concisely respond to all points set out in this RFP. Any proposal, which does not fully and comprehensively address this RFP, may be rejected.
Incomplete proposals may be rejected by RA at its discretion.
RA reserves the right to request additional information at any time during the procurement process.
RA is at liberty to make multiple or no selections as part of the proposal process. RA also reserves the right to cancel the procurement.
All proposal costs shall be borne by the applicant and will not be reimbursed by RA.
It is the responsibility of every bidder to identify any information of a confidential or proprietary nature contained in its proposal so that it may be handled accordingly. However, RA cannot guarantee confidentiality.
Selection Criteria
Minimum 5+ years of experience in media training, public speaking coaching, or crisis communications
Prior experience coaching NGO or non-profit leaders
Strong facilitation and coaching skills, especially for professionals from diverse backgrounds and diverse levels, including technical staff and senior leadership
Deep understanding of Indian and Sri Lankan media environments, local journalistic norms, and cultural nuances in interviews
Excellent verbal and written communication in English; working knowledge of local languages (Hindi, Tamil, Sinhala) is a plus, especially for handling local press scenarios
Familiarity with tools for virtual training delivery (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams) for remote sessions with Sri Lanka team.

Proposal Process and Format
Statutory Requirements: Upon request, the consultant should supply all required legal documents as may be required by RA and/or local law, e.g. work permit, bank details, registration details, tax documents etc. When opportunity is restricted to a specific location, only candidates authorised to work in the location will be considered.
Proposal requirements:
Cover letter summarizing relevant experience
Approach and methodology: Outline of how you would approach the project and key deliverables
Detailed budget (in INR) needed to complete deliverables
If there are team members, provide team bios highlighting relevant expertise
