Role Overview

As the sole subject News Coverage Manager, you will be responsible for independently overseeing all aspects of subject news reporting, analysis, and dissemination. This includes content creation, editorial oversight, and strategic planning to ensure timely, accurate, and engaging subject coverage.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation & Editing

: Research, write, and edit subject news articles, features, and analyses across various formats.

Story Development

: Identify and develop story ideas related to local subject, ensuring relevance and timelines.

Source Management

: Cultivate and maintain relationships to gather exclusive insights and information.

Multimedia Integration

: Collaborate with multimedia teams (or independently) to incorporate visual elements like infographics, videos, and podcasts into subject coverage.

Editorial Oversight

: Ensure all content adheres to journalistic standards of accuracy, fairness, and integrity.

Audience Engagement

: Monitor audience feedback and engagement metrics to refine content strategies and enhance reader experience.

Crisis Communication

: Develop and implement strategies for covering breaking news and crises, providing clear and concise information to the public.

Strategic Planning

: Plan and execute long-term editorial calendars focusing on key political events, elections, and policy developments.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Political Science, Communications, or a related field. Proven experience in journalism, with a strong portfolio of published work. Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills. Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Familiarity with digital publishing tools and social media platforms.

Desired Skills

Experience with multimedia content creation (video, podcasts, etc.). Knowledge of data journalism and statistical analysis. Understanding of SEO and audience analytics tools. Crisis communication and public relations expertise.
