Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer - Production (Fabrication Unit) will be responsible for overseeing and managing fabrication activities, ensuring production targets are met with high quality, cost-effectiveness, and within the scheduled timelines. The role requires hands-on knowledge of welding, cutting, forming, and assembly processes, along with the ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan, schedule, and monitor production activities in the fabrication shop. Supervise and ensure efficient execution of welding, cutting, bending, and assembly operations. Interpret fabrication drawings and ensure correct implementation on the shop floor. Maintain production documentation including daily production reports, rejection logs, and quality checks. Monitor machine and manpower utilization to optimize efficiency. Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards. Coordinate with the design, quality, and maintenance departments to resolve technical or process issues. Assist in the procurement of raw materials and consumables related to fabrication.

Skills & Competencies:

Strong understanding of fabrication processes - welding, cutting, forming, etc. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication schematics. Familiar with material handling and inventory management. Knowledge of production planning software (ERP, SAP, etc.) is a plus. Good communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Awareness of workplace safety protocols and quality management systems.
