The Machine Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the
operation, maintenance, and reliability
of all mechanical equipment and machinery in the Water Treatment Plant. This includes pumps, blowers, mixers, valves, gearboxes, compressors, and other electromechanical systems to ensure smooth, continuous, and efficient plant operation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Equipment Operation & Monitoring
Monitor performance of all mechanical equipment such as raw water pumps, clear water pumps, sludge pumps, agitators, blowers, mixers, and dosing systems.
Check vibration, noise, temperature, leakage, and other abnormal signs in machines.
Support plant operations team during start-up, shutdown, and changeover of equipment.
2. Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance
Prepare and implement
preventive maintenance schedule (PM)
for all plant machinery.
Attend mechanical
breakdowns
promptly and restore equipment in minimum possible time.
Carry out routine maintenance like lubrication, alignment, tightening, replacement of seals, bearings, couplings, belts, etc.
Maintain records of all maintenance activities, history cards, and spare replacement.
3. Troubleshooting & Repairs
Diagnose faults in pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, and rotating equipment.
Coordinate with vendors/service providers for major repair works and overhauling.
Suggest and implement
corrective actions
to reduce recurring breakdowns.
4. Spare Parts & Inventory Management
Prepare and update
critical spares list
for mechanical equipment.
Raise requirements/indent for spares, consumables, and tools in coordination with store/purchase department.
Ensure availability of essential spares to avoid plant downtime.
5. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain checklists, logbooks, maintenance registers, service reports, and AMC records.
Prepare daily/weekly/monthly maintenance reports and submit to Plant In-charge / Manager.
Support in preparation of maintenance-related data for billing, audits, and client reports.
6. Safety, Compliance & Standards
Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out following
safety procedures and PPE usage
.
Follow WTP O&M manuals, OEM guidelines, and standard maintenance practices.
Support compliance with ISO, environmental, and statutory norms related to plant machinery.
7. Coordination
Coordinate with
Electrical Engineer/Technician
for electromechanical issues (motor trips, overload, control panel faults, etc.).
Work closely with
Operations team
to plan maintenance during low load or shutdown periods.
Interact with client representatives/consultants during inspections or audits.
Qualifications & Skills
Diploma / B.Tech / B.E in
Mechanical Engineering
or equivalent.
3-5 years of experience in
operation & maintenance of mechanical equipment
, preferably in WTP/STP/ETP/industrial utilities.
Good knowledge of pumps, valves, blowers, gearboxes, mechanical seals, bearings, and piping systems.
Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, GA drawings, and P&ID (preferred).
Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and planning skills.
Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, email) for reporting and documentation.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
