Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer responsible for ensuring reliable and efficient operation of all plant machinery, production equipment, utility systems, and preventive maintenance practices in the rubber products manufacturing facility.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintenance Planning & Execution
Develop and implement preventive & predictive maintenance schedules for mechanical systems.
Ensure minimal downtime and rapid response to breakdowns.
Maintain complete and accurate maintenance records, logs, and reports.
2. Machinery & Equipment Maintenance
Oversee servicing, troubleshooting, and repair of:
Production Equipment
Internal mixers / Banbury mixers / Kneader machines -- maintain rotors, seals, gearbox, temperature control.
Mixing mills -- ensure rolls, hydraulic drives, safety guards, and cooling systems are functioning.
Calendar machines -- check roll alignment, heating/cooling plates, tension and hydraulic systems.
Conveyor belts -- belts, pulleys, motors, sensors, and alignment practices.
Rubber Processing Presses
Hydraulic presses -- prevent leaks, check pressure regulators, maintain cylinders and valves.
RotoCure / vulcanizing presses -- maintain heating platens, pressure systems, and timing mechanisms.
Machine Tools
CNC machines & controls -- coordinate with electrical/PLC team for diagnostics, align spindles, maintain coolant & lubrication systems.
Lathe and other conventional machines -- ensure proper alignment, spindle maintenance, calibration.
Auxiliary Systems
Boiler & Steam Systems -- supervise steam generation equipment, safety valves, condensate return, and effective coordination with electrical and boiler operators for safe operation.
Compressors, pumps, and vacuum systems used in rubber processing and material handling.
3. Continuous Improvement
Analyze recurring failures and implement root cause corrective actions.
Coordinate with production, quality, and safety teams to improve equipment reliability and process efficiency.
4. Spare Parts & Inventory Control
Maintain accurate spare parts inventory and recommend ordering schedules for critical components.
Suggest inventory optimization strategies to support maintenance planning.
5. Safety and Compliance
Ensure all mechanical maintenance activities comply with safety regulations (plant safety, machine guarding, lockout/tagout).
Coordinate with EHS and electrical personnel for safe shutdowns and isolated work.
6. Documentation and Reporting
Prepare detailed service reports, equipment history logs, and maintenance performance metrics.

Skills & Knowledge Requirements
Technical Skills
In-depth mechanical maintenance knowledge of rubber manufacturing and heavy industrial equipment.
Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical drives, bearings, gearboxes and PLC interfacing.
Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns and preventive maintenance planning.
Working knowledge of steam boiler & auxiliary systems and associated safety protocols.
Equipment Familiarity
Internal mixers, mixing mills, calendar machines
Hydraulic & RotoCure / vulcanizing presses
Conveyor systems and material handling
CNC machines, lathes, drill presses
Boiler and steam distribution systems
Soft Skills

Qualifications
Diploma / Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
3+ years' experience in industrial mechanical maintenance, preferably in rubber, polymer, or heavy manufacturing industry.
Experience with maintenance management systems and adherence to ISO standards is an advantage.
