Role Overview
This is a full-time on-site role for a Mechanical Design Engineer at Clean Electric in Pune.We seek a talented and experienced Mechanical CAD Designer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery systems and experience in creating plastic molding parts and sheet metal components. You will play a critical role in developing innovative mechanical designs for our advanced battery solutions, contributing to the growth and success of our product line.
Role Description and Key Responsibilities
The role involves tasks including but not limited to -
Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for Li-Ion battery systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.
Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for plastic molded parts, sheet metal components including enclosures, brackets, and connectors.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, thermal engineers, and manufacturing teams, to ensure integrated and manufacturable designs.
Perform tolerance analysis and material selection for plastic components to ensure durability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
Utilize CAD software (such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Creo) to develop and refine mechanical designs from concept to production.
Conduct design reviews and provide technical feedback to optimize product performance and manufacturability.
Support prototype development, testing, and validation of Li-Ion battery designs, ensuring alignment with project timelines and quality standards.
Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to optimize the design for injection molding processes, sheet metal fabrication and other manufacturing methods.
Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including BOMs, engineering change notices, and technical reports.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's/Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
2-4 years of experience in mechanical design, specifically in Li-Ion battery systems, plastic molding, and sheet metal part design.
Desired Skills and Attributes
Proficiency in CAD software (Solid Works, Auto CAD, Creo, or similar).
Strong knowledge of plastic materials, sheet metal design, injection molding processes, and tooling design.
Experience with DFM (Design for Manufacturability), DFA (Design for Assembly) and DFMEA principles.
Understanding of thermal management, vibration, and shock requirements for battery systems.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, reliable designs.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Experience in the Battery, automotive, or consumer electronics industries.
Knowledge of regulatory standards and certifications related to Li-Ion battery safety and performance.
Familiarity with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and simulation tools.
