We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to oversee, manage, and maintain the mechanical systems of the Water Treatment Plant (WTP). The role involves installation, operation, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of pumps, pipelines, valves, compressors, and other electromechanical equipment to ensure efficient and uninterrupted water treatment operations.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Installation
Assist in the design, installation, and commissioning of mechanical systems, piping, and equipment in the WTP.
Supervise contractors/vendors during equipment erection, alignment, and commissioning.
Operation & Maintenance
Operate and monitor mechanical equipment such as pumps, blowers, compressors, clarifiers, agitators, and dosing systems.
Plan and perform preventive and corrective maintenance for all mechanical assets.
Maintain lubrication schedules and calibration of mechanical components.
Troubleshooting & Repairs
Diagnose mechanical faults and implement timely corrective actions.
Ensure minimal downtime of equipment by effective troubleshooting and quick repairs.
Maintain spare parts inventory and coordinate procurement of critical components.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with safety standards and statutory regulations.
Implement energy-efficient and sustainable practices in operations.
Conduct risk assessments and promote safe working practices for mechanical staff.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain records of equipment performance, breakdowns, and maintenance schedules.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports.
Coordinate with electrical and civil teams for smooth WTP functioning.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of pumps, piping, valves, gearboxes, compressors, and hydraulic systems.
Understanding of water/wastewater treatment processes and related equipment.
Hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance, alignment, and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with AutoCAD, mechanical drawings, and technical specifications.
Good communication, problem-solving, and team coordination skills.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
2-5 years (for junior) / 5-10 years (for senior) experience in Water Treatment Plant or similar utility/industrial environment.
Knowledge of ISO standards, OHSAS, and preventive maintenance practices preferred.
