Responsible for the mechanical design, specification, and engineering oversight of all static and rotating equipment for the ammonia plant, including reformers, compressors, exchangers, pressure vessels, and auxiliary mechanical systems. Ensures all mechanical equipment meets project performance requirements, complies with international codes, and supports safe, reliable, and maintainable plant operations. Collaborates closely with process, piping, structural, electrical, and vendor teams throughout the FEED phase.
Key Responsibilities / Deliverables
Prepare equipment lists, mechanical datasheets, and FEED-level equipment specifications for static and rotating equipment.
Lead mechanical design for:
Compressors (centrifugal, reciprocating)
Heat exchangers (shell & tube, air-cooled)
Pressure vessels and high-pressure reactors
Reformers and associated mechanical systems
Perform mechanical sizing, design validation, and code compliance checks using ASME, API, TEMA, and related standards.
Prepare technical requisitions, participate in vendor bid evaluations, and review vendor documents, drawings, and mechanical calculations.
Support the development of P&IDs, equipment arrangement plans, and 3D model reviews.
Provide mechanical inputs to HAZOP, SIL reviews, and other safety evaluations.
Evaluate mechanical design for reliability, maintainability, and operability, including access platforms, lifting provisions, and maintenance clearances.
