Job Description

Summary Responsible for activities related to the construction, building and commissioning on customer site, from site mobilization, through civil, erection and commissioning work, as well as management activities related to this scope. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.

  • Execution of Mechanical erection works mainly related to rotating machines, Feed water pumps, Cooling pumps, Condensate extraction pumps, injection pumps, miscellaneous pumps -Driven pumps, blowers, fans, Compressors, control valves, etc, compliance with time schedule and to satisfactory quality. Coordination with the Construction lead, and mechanical commissioning engineers .
  • In charge of maintenance, trouble shooting , reparation of pumps, over-hauling, pumps alignment, routine & preventive maintenance, oil filling, for all mechanicals equipment's.
  • Provide co-workers with information about hazards, risks and risk mitigation measures applicable to the site.
Ensuring within the scope of the discipline works that subcontractors are in compliance with the EHS requirements at the site.



Roles and Responsibilities

Main Tasks

The Mechanical Erection supervisor is responsible for the performance of site activities within the scope of his field of expertise, which is mainly the rotating machines erection, maintenance, alignment, over-hauling, repair, trouble shooting, etc.

Checking the assembly documentation for his mechanical equipment scope, as well as the O&M manuals.

Checking the I&T plans for his field of expertise while including the I&T program.

Full supervision, support and guidance of the team working under his authority

Full erection and maintenance of Rotating machines in accordance with the applicable drawings ,and O & M manuals.

Full implementation of EHS rules and directives.

Full cooperation and coordination with SM and other supervisors .

Implementation of the work schedule tasks and time lines.

Detailed Tasks

Perform erection and maintenance of all pumps in Turbine hall such as Feedwater pumps, condensate extraction pumps, CCW pumps, ACW pumps, miscellaneous pumps, etc

Perform erection and maintenance of all blowers, compressors, fans, and control valves.

Perform all shaft / rotors alignments , and keep records according to ITPL

Oversees assigned mechanical personnel and daily erection activities (e.g. training, scheduling, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that assignments are completed in a safe, proper and timely manner and maximizing the efficiency of the workforce

Prepare and brief his team on individual site jobs to ensure site work is carried out to a high standard.

Ability in reading and understanding specifications, drawings, and all other related project and engineering documentation. Knowledge of power plant KKS system is an added advantage.

Maintenance , over-haul , and repairs of mechanical systems like actuators, pumps, motors, valves, hydraulics, pneumatics, upon request of ABFPL commissioning, and erection lead.

Walk downs and visual inspection of live systems while plant in operation. Equipment malfunctions, faults, leaks, noise, etc and reporting to the related responsible.

Commissioning assistance for cleaning preparation, inspection, tools, and spare parts.

Checking of availability of tools required for erection and maintenance.

Keeps records of all work completed and completion of "Action Lists"

Must be a good communicator. Able to give instructions in an efficient and effective way to his workforce.

Liaises with other discipline foremen to ensure the optimum utilization of available work, with the overall objective of successful completion of the project.

Familiar with all Company Safety and QA/QC procedures and strictly enforces them amongst the ABFPL / subcontractor workforce.

Identifies, formulates and implements "on - the - job" training programs for the workforce under his responsibility in coordination with the supervisor.

Supervise and/or perform mechanical tasks related to disassembly & reassembly, functional clearance checks , alignment check of all rotating equipment and including turbine shaft line.

Ability to use and train his team on all type of accurate measurement tools.

Ensure work permits and checks are completed to carry work out safely.

Request equipment, materials and consumables as required with in limits of authority in coordination with the Turbine engineer.

Should have experience on lifting and rigging .

Monitor the use of materials and care of equipment to minimize waste and damage.

Support construction manager to Maintain a variety of files and records (e.g. time sheets, inventory, work orders, labor/material estimates, equipment, manuals, etc.)

Knowledge of Rotating machines preservation during erection and assembly phase.

Identification of mechanical equipments parts in package list and request as per site erection schedule.

Assuring the quality of execution within the erection scope of the stipulated guidelines and the applicable instructions.

Observation of the Regulations for Field Assembly and Commissioning Staff or the Site Instructions, respectively.

Regular reports on his field of expertise according to the specifications

Registration and forwarding of non-conformities .Report beyond the original scope of work in form of non-conformance reports (NCR).

Read the drawing and preparing work sequence.

Check the alignment and other parameters of turbine.

Assistance to the commissioning group to trouble shooting during commissioning/synchronization.

Inspect the various clearances measured in erected equipment's.

Give necessary correction to various activities coming under erection.

Deploy man power for various activities of erection.

Maintain all the documentation of erection equipment.

Required Qualifications

Experience gained on the job during professional life - 6 x years

3 to 4 years' experience in the execution of steam turbine related projects for power plants

Desirable (NICE TO HAVE)

Management experience of medium size multi-cultural technical team

Some M & E Erection & Commissioning experience

International experience within the discipline

Behavioral and/or Technical Know-how

Feel responsible and lead by example

Ability to organise his/her work to achieve the required results

Ability to delegate, control and assume responsibility

Committed to his/her responsibilities

Ability to lead and motivate a design team

Communication and team building faculties.
