Job Summary

The Shift Engineer - Mechanical is responsible for ensuring smooth and safe operation of all mechanical equipment in the ferro alloys plant during the assigned shift. The role involves preventive and breakdown maintenance, coordination with operations, and ensuring minimum downtime of furnaces and auxiliary equipment.

Key Responsibilities1. Plant & Equipment Maintenance

Supervise operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment such as: Submerged Arc Furnaces (SAF) Crushers, Screens, Conveyors Gearboxes, Crushers, Mixers Pumps, Blowers, Fans Hydraulic & Pneumatic systems Attend and rectify breakdowns promptly to minimize production loss. Execute preventive and predictive maintenance as per schedule.
2. Shift Operations

Ensure availability and readiness of mechanical equipment throughout the shift. Coordinate with Production, Electrical & Instrumentation teams. Monitor equipment performance and take corrective actions when required. Maintain proper shift handover and logbooks.
3. Safety & Compliance

Ensure all maintenance activities follow safety standards and SOPs. Conduct tool box talks and ensure use of PPE. Ensure compliance with statutory and environmental norms. Report and investigate near-misses and incidents.
4. Manpower & Contractor Management

Supervise fitters, technicians, and contract workers. Allocate work and monitor productivity of shift manpower. Ensure quality of maintenance work executed by contractors.
5. Documentation & Reporting

Maintain records of breakdowns, maintenance activities, and spares consumption. Prepare shift reports and communicate critical issues to seniors. Assist in spare parts planning and inventory control.
6. Continuous Improvement

Identify recurring problems and suggest improvement measures. Support plant shutdowns, overhauls, and major maintenance activities. Participate in audits and improvement initiatives.
Qualification & Experience

Qualification:

Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

Experience:

3-8 years in Ferro Alloys / Sponge Iron Hands-on experience with furnace-related mechanical systems preferred

Pay: ?18,000.00 - ?32,000.00 per month
