. This role also involves preparing detailed drawings for general
structural and mechanical fabrication
to support the manufacturing environment. The successful candidate ensures all drawings adhere to strict engineering standards and manufacturability requirements.
Key Responsibilities
A. Core: Mould & Tooling Drafting
Design Drafting:
Create highly detailed 2D manufacturing drawings for
injection mould tools, die casting dies, or press/stamping tools
, including components like cores, cavities, inserts, guides, and ejector systems.
Precision Specification:
Apply
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
principles rigorously to achieve high-precision fits, surface finishes, and parallelism required for tooling components.
Tool Assembly:
Generate comprehensive assembly drawings, exploded views, and installation schematics for complete mould and tool sets.
Component List:
Prepare and maintain accurate
Bill of Materials (BOM)
, detailing custom parts, standard mould base components (e.g., DME, Hasco), and material specifications.
Revision Control:
Manage and revise existing tooling drawings based on engineering change requests (ECR), mold flow analysis results, or shop floor feedback, ensuring proper version control.
B. Secondary: Mechanical & Fabrication Drafting
Structural Drawings:
Develop detailed fabrication drawings for various
mechanical enclosures , supporting frames etc
.
Machining Details:
Prepare simple part drawings for machined components or jigs used in general production or maintenance.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Education:
Diploma or Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Tool and Die Making, or Mechanical Drafting.
Experience:
3-5 years
of progressive experience as a Draughtsman, with a
significant portion dedicated to mould, die, or tooling design
.
Practical experience creating detailed drawings for
welded assemblies and sheet metal fabrication
.
Technical Expertise:
Advanced proficiency
in 3D CAD software (e.g.,
SolidWorks, NX, or Creo
).
Expert knowledge of GD&T
and its application to high-precision parts.
Strong working knowledge of
machining processes
(CNC milling, turning, EDM) and
welding/fabrication methods
.
Familiarity with standard mould/tool design libraries and components.
General Skills:
Meticulous
attention to detail
is paramount given the cost and precision of tooling.
Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications, stress analysis reports, and manufacturing procedures.
