The Mechanical Draftsman will be responsible for creating detailed technical drawings, 2D/3D models, and assembly layouts for machine components and systems. The role requires precision, strong understanding of mechanical design principles, and coordination with production, fabrication, and assembly teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD/SolidWorks/Inventor).
Develop assembly drawings, part drawings, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and fabrication details.
Convert conceptual sketches and engineering instructions into accurate technical drawings.
Ensure drawings comply with manufacturing standards, tolerances, and GD&T practices.
Modify or update existing drawings based on feedback from production, QC, or design engineers.
Collaborate with fabrication, machining, and assembly teams to resolve design or drawing issues.
Maintain organized documentation and ensure revision control for all technical drawings.
Assist engineers in prototyping, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support machine installation and commissioning drawings as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Drafting, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant field.
2-5 years of experience as a Mechanical Draftsman in a machine manufacturing or industrial equipment environment.
Proficiency in CAD tools --
AutoCAD
(mandatory) and
SolidWorks/Inventor
(preferred).
Strong understanding of machine components, sheet metal, fabrication, and machining processes.
Ability to interpret and prepare engineering drawings with correct tolerances, fits, and GD&T.
Knowledge of industrial design standards and manufacturing practices.
Good communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drafting work.
Preferred Skills (Added Advantage):
Experience in automation or special-purpose machines (SPM).
Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Ability to create exploded views, animations, or renderings (if required).
