MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER - LIGHTING PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

We're a product design studio specializing in the design and development of lighting products, sculptures and functional objects that blend function, aesthetics, and innovation.

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join us in bringing these concepts to life.

What You'll Do:

As Mechanical Engineer, you'll collaborate closely with industrial designers to turn concepts into production-ready lighting products. You'll be responsible for the development of mechanical systems, product housings, mounting solutions, and detailed manufacturing documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop mechanical designs for lighting products, including housings, enclosures, brackets, and mounting systems Create 3D CAD models, prototypes, and production-ready drawings (including tolerances,
materials, finishes, etc.)

Optimize designs for manufacturing processes such as sheet metal, die casting, Sand casting Collaborate with vendors and fabricators to ensure DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly) Support prototype builds, testing, and iterative refinement Create clear assembly instructions and BOMs (Bill of Materials) Ensure mechanical integrity, durability, and thermal performance

Requirements:

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field 3+ years of experience in product development, ideally in lighting or consumer products Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar) Experience designing parts for mass production (metal, plastic, etc.) Understanding of thermal management, tolerancing, and mechanical testing Familiarity with lighting standards and considerations is a plus Strong communication and collaboration skills

Nice to Have:

Experience working with lighting components like LED modules, heatsinks, and optics Knowledge of UL or CE compliance standards for lighting Hands-on experience with prototyping tools and methods
